SUMMARY

In coordination with and at the direction of Commerce Department leadership and senior staff, this position will be responsible for providing timely and accurate guidance to businesses, institutions, and other entities interested in economic and workforce development programs and assistance available through the Commerce Department, its constituent entities, and partners. The position requires a high degree of discretion, an ability to maintain a consistent professional demeanor, an ability to work with minimal supervision and instruction, and a comfort with managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. This person is willing to participate in a team environment, accept a high & varied tempo of activity and responsibility, and work toward the continuous improvement of services & performance. Any and all additional responsibilities may be required at the request of the Director of Commerce and/or the Executive Directors of the constituent entities of the Commerce Department.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Responsible for responding to inquiries for assistance from businesses and stakeholders, providing timely and accurate information, making appropriate connections for assistance & support, and keeping the Department's senior leadership aware of inquiries, follow-ups, and other communications requiring special attention.

  • Business assistance request forms;
  • Site selection requests.
* Provides project and services support to the Department's leadership team and Department's entities. This may include collecting information from program applicants, staffing events, arranging follow-up services, or other tasks as assigned to support projects and services by the Department's leadership team.

* Provides commercial loan underwriting services in support of the Department's MontCo Forward loan program and any other new programs developed. Will assist with new program development and tracking of outcomes.

* Represents the Department at meetings and events at the request of the Department's leadership team.

* Provides regular reports to Department leadership team on activities and interactions. Records interactions with businesses in the Executive Pulse database and all other formats & CRMs as directed by Department's leadership team.

* Develops deep knowledge of local, county, state, and federal economic and workforce development resources as well as Commerce Department practices and activities.

* Attends to other duties and tasks at the direction of the Director of Commerce, senior Commerce Department staff, and senior County leadership as needed.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The ideal candidate is a recent college graduate or an early career professional. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Applicant must have or be willing to obtain the skills noted. * Ideally 1-3 years working in economic and/or workforce development, commercial lending, finance, or a related field.

* Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred) in business administration, public administration, finance, communications, or a related field.

* Demonstrated aptitude to learn and/or an understanding of and experience with public sector economic and workforce development programs and practices.

* An understanding of public sector expectations for performance, professionalism, and practices.

* Capability to prepare and package grant and/or business finance applications, government reports, and/or publications & marketing materials.

* Proficient with Microsoft Office, customer relations management (CRM) or similar project management software/database systems.

* Willingness and ability to seek, build, and further develop partnerships across a wide spectrum of public, private, and/or non-profit entities.

* Project and team management skills along with an ability to effectively manage deadlines and coordinate work across multiple ad hoc and/or established groups, task force, committees, etc.

* Able to obtain and/or maintain a valid Driver's License.
