What You Will Do:
GFT is seeking a Senior Water Resources / Hydraulics Engineer to join our Transportation team in Raleigh! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Raleigh office.

What you'll be challenged to do:
This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced, motivated Senior Water Resources / Hydraulics Engineer. You will provide oversight to design teams, monitor progress and provide guidance, responsible for final check and accuracy of design deliverables. The successful candidates will have demonstrated success in the supervision and coordination of civil engineering designs, drawings and technical specifications. Responsibilities will include: assigning individual work tasks and providing guidance to team members focused in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, storm sewer analysis, stormwater engineering design master drainage planning, groundwater analyses and related projects
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • Preparing stormwater management plans and reports
  • Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, BMPs, erosion control plans and other civil infrastructure design
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, using a variety of techniques and models (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, PC-SWMM, etc.)
  • Prepare written reports, such as flood study narratives and watershed reports
  • Oversight of project teams and client management
Education | Experience:
What you will bring to our firm:
  • B.S. Degree or higher in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related Engineering field), with emphasis in water resources.
  • 8-15 years water resources-related experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of North Carolina
What we prefer you bring:
  • Direct knowledge of Wetland and Stream permitting requirements for NCDOT required
  • Direct experience developing stormwater management plans for NCDOT projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hydrology and open channel hydraulics.
  • Proficiency in HEC-RAS, HY-8, ArcGIS, GeoPak is required and knowledge of StormCAD strongly preferred
  • NCDOT Erosion Control Certification preferred
  • Ability to interact with our clients and work on cross-functional teams is essential
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $165,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
