We are looking for a dedicated, caring and effective Executive Assistant Administrative Assistant V. If you are interested in joining a team of exceptional staff, our team is ready to connect with you! This position serves as the Executive Assistant to the Office of the Director of the Health Department. Assists the director, deputy directors and senior management staff with a variety of administrative tasks essential to the efficient and effective operation of the department. Provides general executive assistance, schedules and coordinates for others, and is responsible for communications with internal and external stakeholders. Supervises up to two administrative staff and is ultimately responsible for reception and office management of the Department's main administrative building. Functions as the liaison between the Director's Office and staff, elected officials, and other state and local officials and community leaders. Develops and maintains physician coverage for all health department clinics. This position interacts routinely with the County Executive's office, staff from the offices of the Board of Supervisors, members of the health department's advisory boards and with leaders within the community. The individual in this position must exercise independent judgment, initiative and creativity in dealing with the changing needs of the health department and the increasingly complex issues that come to the office of the health director. This position must have the ability to prioritize work and provide guidance and direction to support staff in the office of the health director to ensure a team approach in addressing the work.
Note: The assigned functional areas of the position include general executive assistance, scheduling and coordinating for others, communications/public contact, and/or information systems/software use.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and four years of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s).
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSURES REQUIRED:
CPR certification (within 60 days of hire)
AED certification (within 60 days of hire)
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a Child Protective Services Registry check to the satisfaction of the employer.
This position is emergency/essential services personnel. (Required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three or more years of experience serving as an executive assistant to a director of a large organization.
- Three or more years of experience interacting with executive teams, such as the Office of the County Executive, or with Boards, Authorities and Commissions on a regular basis.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including both oral and written communication.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment, initiative and creativity in dealing with the changing needs of a department. Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to inform management of complex issues.
- Ability to prioritize work and provide guidance and direction to support staff.
- Extensive knowledge of public health programs and services.
- Excellent computer skills in the use of software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Three or more years of direct supervisory experience overseeing, monitoring, and directing the work of others.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Job is generally sedentary in nature, and requires walking, standing, sitting (for long periods of time), and kneeling, reaching, bending, climbing stairs; may be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs. as required for the position. Uses hands to grasp, handle, or feel. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor; ability to operate keyboard driven equipment and computer; and touchscreen electronics. Position frequently communicates and must be able to exchange accurate information with others verbally and in writing. Generally, works in an office environment yet may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
