Position Summary:

As Computer Systems Analyst, you will support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport Electromagnetic Systems Department (Code 34) in Newport, RI.

Clearance Requirements:


  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance




Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Monitor vulnerability management tools on a daily basis, and install, maintain and integrate updates and fixes of hardware, operating systems, databases and application software to maintain cybersecurity posture of all Code 34 accredited systems.
  • Harden and secure Code 34 systems in accordance with applicable Security Technical and Implementation Guide (STIGs), Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts, Bulletins, and Technical (IAV-A/B/T) and report compliance using the corresponding system of record.
  • Perform periodic vulnerability scans on network information systems and closed enclaves using DoD and Department Navy (DON) approved tools and remediate vulnerability findings based on system scan recommendations.
  • Provide Client Support Services for all Code 34 hardware and software packages in use at NUWCDIVNPT by interviewing customers, diagnosing and responding to a wide range of IT related issues, and escalating the issue to a higher support level if necessary. Act as a first responder and primary dispatch for all facets of IT services, including application support, hardware support, unclassified and classified networks, file server and print services, domain access, AIS Information Security, telephones, and government issued cellphones.
  • Submit Code 34 RDT&E DADMS software inventory updates to Code 10.
  • Upon receipt of a software license request ticket, provide Code 34 RDT&E software license maintenance, including the installation of software license keys provided by the Government for use on Code 34 RDT&E and NMCI systems.
  • Upon receipt of an approved change request, perform updates to the Code 34 SharePoint Online site pages.
  • On a daily basis, monitor the performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, recoverability of all system assets across NUWCDIVNPT Code 34 and any servers where Code 34 has a presence.
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly backups of specified Code 34 RDT&E systems in accordance with the operating system native back-up tools in the individual operating systems.
  • Monitor applicable cybersecurity management tools and databases daily for all events collected by enterprise security products employed by NUWCDIVNPT Code 34 to identify suspicious activity, provide analysis of anomalies, and investigate and provide recommendations for resolution of the cybersecurity event with department ISSOs.
  • Support data call request, analyze and gather data and metrics in support of department and center level data calls for the collection of cybersecurity data and metrics. Provide data and metrics to department ISSOs.
  • Provide information (such as hardware and software lists and verified vulnerability scans) to the designated Navy Qualified Validator (NQV) or Code 10 RMF point of contact on all Code 34 RDT&E RMF packages in accordance with the RMF process.
  • Coordinate NMCI asset orders with NUWCDIVNPT command NMCI POCs, perform asset management and reporting for all Code 34 deployed NMCI assets, and reconcile assets using the NET.
  • Perform service requests, process Move, Add, Change (MAC) submissions on new and existing Code 34 NMCI assets, track open MAC requests, and facilitate MAC completion using MAC system tools in NET.




Required Education, Skills, and Experience:


  • High School diploma or GED
  • IAT level II compliant certification (Security+ or equivalent)


  • Lvl II experience requirement: Three (3) years' experience in computers, networks, and operating systems
  • Lvl III experience requirement: Five (5) years' experience in computers, networks, and operating systems
  • Must have experience with:

    • Unix/Linux
    • Windows 10/11, Server 20xx
    • LAN Administration
    • Nessus/ACAS
    • HBSS/Trellix
    • STIG Manager/STIG Viewer
    • SCAP
    • AWS/Azure
    • Microsoft SharePoint






Preferred Skills and Experience:


  • Preferred experience with Navy support
  • Experience with RDTE NREN and RDTE SIPRNET




Physical Demands and Expectations:


  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
