The research technician (RT) will provide support for Dr. Gupta's laboratory. The Gupta lab studies the role of DNA damage responses in breast cancer development and treatment response. Primary responsibilities will include management of our transgenic mouse colony, preparation of reagents and media for experiments, maintaining/ordering lab supplies, performing molecular biology techniques (e.g., DNA/ RNA isolation, PCR) for genotyping and other routine methods (e.g. cell culture, immunofluorescence, westerns), and assisting other lab members with experiments involving cellular and molecular biology methods. Organizational skills and an ability to collect and analyze data are critical. For the suitable candidate, there is the potential of having a semi-independent research project.

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Experience working in a research laboratory.
Basic knowledge of molecular biology techniques and data analysis.
Some flexibility in work schedule is required.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
Organizational skills.

Experience with mouse colony management, mammalian tissue culture, and standard molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR) is preferred.
