Description

The IEH&S Manager is responsible for administering Aviation Industrial Environmental, Health & Safety Programs in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, CONUS and OCONUS. The Mgr. provides IEH&S information/advice to the Program Manager and helps the management team maintain a posture of compliance, through succession training and surveillance.

Total salary varies depending on experience and certifications.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the below-listed functions. Additional functions may be identified by the organization and listed as such in the incumbent's performance appraisal elements. Various tasks may be assigned under each function. Those that are listed under the examples are not all-inclusive; they are examples only and may be amended or added to as needed by the organization:



  • Business Acumen: Combine experience, knowledge, and perspective in the context of a particular situation and collaborate with other team members to make sound judgments. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Make Inquiries: Utilize investigative techniques, risk-based thinking, and other principles when performing case studies, investigations, assessments, evaluations, or audits for evidence of statistics, decision, or action
  • Process Assurance: Perform process-based performance assessments to ensure compliance with contract criteria and applicable regulatory requirements. This includes:

    • Analyzing process characteristics, interpreting data, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and determining if there are trends of decreasing capability or increased risk


  • Process Control: Participate in the development of IEH&S related, policy, procedures, and work instructions that establish safe work practices and conditions consistent with Company and/or regulatory standards.
  • Management Systems: An individual contributor, providing IEH&S compliance and status information during Management System Reviews including Risk Management, Safety Committee, and Staff Meetings.
  • File/Record Management: Prepare and maintain documented information/records related to required permits, generator status, chemical inventories, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical waste, waste disposal, etc.
  • Audit Protocols: Ensure documented information is organized in a manner that allows for easy and effective review of applicable IEH&S programs, documentation, and records.
  • Training: Provide safety guidance and training to V2X personnel regarding the proper application of environmental and safety systems.
  • Assessments: Conduct hazard assessments and required inspections at regular intervals
  • Waste: Ensure routine inspections of waste streams and waste storage areas are conducted as required. Verify proper marking, labeling, and sealing of waste containers.
  • DEA Environmental Management System Committee: Serve as V2X's IEH&S Representative.



QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate or Bachelor's Degree with 8 to 10 years of experience, in a related field, is desirable, developing and implementing IEH&S programs in an Aviation Maintenance setting. Certifications such as Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) are a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge, ability, or experience in:

  • IEH&S Federal, state, and local regulations
  • Environmental Programs: Air Emissions, Waste Water, Stormwater (SWPPP), Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasures (SPCC), Hazardous Waste (RCRA), Emergency Planning & Community Right to Know (EPCRA), Department of Transportation (DOT), International Air Transportation Association (IATA), and Toxic Substance Control (TSCA). (ISO 14001 Environmental Management System experience desired)
  • Safety and Health programs: Hazardous Communication (HAZCOM), Hazardous Material/Process Safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Respiratory Protection, Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, Ergonomics, Ionizing and Non-ionizing Radiation & Lasers, Emergency Action Plan (EAP), Spray Finishing, Welding Cutting Brazing, Hazardous Energy Control (LOTO), Confined Space, Fall Protection, Powered Industrial Trucks, Overhead Hoists, and Machine Guarding. (ISO 45001 Occupational, Health & Safety Management System experience desired)
  • Developing site-specific environmental, safety, and health plans
  • Developing worker exposure assessments from Industrial Hygiene Reports
  • Managing Worker's Compensation Claims
  • Managing OSHA Medical Monitoring Programs
  • Present information within a context that gives meaning and relevance, and can lead to increased understanding and decreased uncertainty.
  • Computer skills: Comprehensive knowledge and experience using MS Office Suite
  • Availability: Must be flexible to support changing needs of the program, including being available at earlier or later times than normal hours. Weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Occasional travel - will be required. May be required to obtain a passport and a visa
  • Workplace Safety: must comply with and maintain all company & federally mandated vaccination requirements.
