Network + or CCNA preferred. Project: Planning Tech will provide support for the building and development of 14 new schools in the next 3 years. This position will design cabling standards throughout each new building and help upgrade some existing schools as well. It will also read blueprints and design the layout of IDFs / closets. It will work with and oversee GCs who will physically be doing the work. It will provide quality checks and audits. Role: The Planning Technician is responsible for performing field inspections, creating technical documentation for school technology construction projects, and ensuring that the contractors are providing the required product as contractually obligated. Additional duties include the performance of surveys of existing network infrastructure design and of deployed technologies. The Planning Technician is also responsible for providing current status updates to the Supervisor along with effective communication amongst team members. Stakeholder communications is a large portion of the successful completion of this role. This is more of an Inspector roll position. *Skills* BICSI, Plan Design, Layout, Telecom *Additional Skills & Qualifications* BICSI standards and current industry-accepted practices Low-voltage structured wiring Cabling and electrical drawings Various phases of the construction process Performance of contractor inspections Foundry/ Brocade appliances, routers, and switches APC environmental and uninterruptible power supplies Cisco routers, switches, and wireless access points Extreme Networks switches MiLAN switches Brocade, Cisco, Meru & Motorola Wireless solutions Network testing tools Principles, methods, and procedures applied in the operation of computers, peripheral equipment, application software, and networks Computer hardware, networking, operating system software and its applications Proper office methods, practices, and procedures Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy *Experience Level* Entry Level *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
