COMPENSATION

Pay or shift range: $95,000- $120,000 USD annually. This is the base compensation hiring range for this role.

JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, External Reporting leads the preparation of Sun Country's external financial statements and reports, assists with month-end close, and participates in special projects and analysis. The Manager, External Reporting is highly detail-oriented, highly organized, able to utilize hands-on accounting experience, and has an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices. This position requires a team player that can work cross-functionally and enjoys working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Lead the preparation of high-quality SEC external financial reports, including footnotes, MD&A, and other supporting documentation for annual and periodic reporting requirements and financial presentations to the Board of Directors in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage the ongoing development, execution, and improvement of external reporting processes and controls and serve as a subject matter expert for external reporting processes.
  • Provide detailed financial statement account analysis (e.g., balance sheet fluctuation) for management and external auditors.
  • Lead the quarterly and annual DOT (Department of Transportation) reporting process.
  • Manage the preparation and review of XBRL within our 10-Q/K and 8-K filings with the SEC.
  • Lead the research and documentation of SEC disclosure implications for complex and/or new transactions to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure internal controls over the external reporting process are functioning properly.
  • Act as liaison with group responsible for Great Plains/Management Reporter maintenance to enhance efficiency of financial reporting processes.
  • Coordinate with multiple parties (management, auditors, lawyers, etc.) on comments or changes to SEC filing documents.
  • Coordinate with other departments to gather support for required disclosures.
  • Review earnings releases, slide presentations and call scripts prepared by Investor Relations group.
  • Assist in research, development and implementation of corporate-wide accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist with technical accounting research projects, as assigned.
  • Provide accurate and timely support to external auditors for external reporting requirements related to annual audit and quarterly reviews.
  • Identify and drive improvements by developing a thorough understanding of end-to-end processes.
  • Assist with certain month-end accounting tasks, as assigned.
  • Various ad hoc projects, as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in accounting, including SEC reporting experience
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial statements, and external SEC reporting requirements
  • Superior critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends as required, particularly during the accounting close process and annual audit


PREFERRED SKILLS



  • Previous experience with Great Plains
  • Previous auditing experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation (or on track for designation)
  • Travel or aviation-related experience
  • Experience managing or supervising a team with increasing leadership responsibilities

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones photocopiers, filing cabinets.
