Provide support and technical assistance for all maintenance activities associated with process instrumentation, electrical and control systems. Troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation, electrical and specialty control equipment failures and restore to operating condition.

Duties:

  • Accountable for the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, calibration, and improvement of process instrumentation, and specialty control system devices for the St. Gabriel site.
  • Understand and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, drawings, P&ID's and PI historian.
  • Assist in planning and schedule of work to meet overall maintenance and production requirements.
  • Maintain and update technical information, drawings, calibrations, and maintenance records.
  • Interact with production unit personnel and provide knowledge of process instrument controls.
  • Participate in callouts and overtime in units of the plant.
  • Proactively seek to improve and implement control systems additions to solve operational problems, to improve plant reliability and to reduce operating cost.
  • Ensure PM documentation and work orders are properly completed and documented in SAP.
  • Maintain and calibrate regulatory and Safety Instrumented Systems.

Qualifications

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability with all types of instrumentation and electrical controls.
  • Understand and use engineering documentation systems such as P&ID's, Instrument specification data sheets, loop sheets, one-lines, ladder diagrams, electrical schematics.
  • Understand PSM, SIS (IEC61511), NFPA 85,86,87 and Mechanical Integrity requirements and guidelines.
  • Able to adapt to changing technology and identify new applications.
  • Able to communicate effectively at various organizational and departmental levels.
  • Direct efforts for solving problems which may be operational rather than the result of control systems failure.
  • Knowledge of SAP PM module.
  • Experience using AMS.
  • Troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and repair of Burner Management Systems, Fenwal Systems, DCS, PLC, AS-I bus, Fieldbus, Profibus and VFDs.
  • 2 yrs. formal I & E training/schooling preferred.
