ASSISTANT SITE COORDINATOR
YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES OFFICE
CITY OF WORCESTER

The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for an Assistant Site Coordinator for the Division of Youth Opportunities within the Department of Health and Human Services. Under the direction of the Site Coordinator, the Assistant Site Coordinator will implement athletic, academic and art programs for participants in the Recreation Worcester summer program. The position includes assisting in the coordination and execution of programming, supervising day-to-day operations, and communicating policy and procedures to youth; while providing a safe, clean, fun environment.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:



  • Support Site Coordinators and Youth Workers to implement daily summer program activities curriculum including preparing supplies and program areas
  • Lead the facilitation of Recreation Worcester curriculum activities, including delegating responsibilities to Youth Workers
  • Collaborate with community partners that visit programming to conduct activities
  • Assist in maintaining accurate program records, incident reports, program documentation, daily attendance, and registration information
  • Help to establish and maintain a positive summer program atmosphere while complying with Recreation Worcester safety protocols
  • Day-day supervision of park and staff, youth participants


SECONDARY ELEMENTS:



  • Check identification documents of parents/guardians arriving to sign/sign out youth participants
  • Other duties as assigned


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations, organizations, and interests
  • Ability to work with students with special educational or emotional needs
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities to Youth Workers
  • Ability to build relationships and networking skills with students, colleagues, and community members
  • Ability to work with youth ages 7 through 12
  • Ability to work up to forty (40) hours per week


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Previous experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must pass a criminal background check (CORI & SORI)


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Worcester resident
  • Six (6) months of supervisory experience
  • Bilingual candidate
  • Six (6) months of experience facilitating out of School activities and programming


SALARY: $17.50 hourly, part-time, temporary, non-benefitted.
