About the Role:

As a senior consultant in NYSTEC's Innovation and Entrepreneurship practice, you will work closely with team members to coordinate and implement various economic and workforce development projects, some of which are strategically aligned with federal agency initiatives. Additionally, the senior consultant will be responsible for driving process improvement initiatives, conducting program analysis, and providing insights to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented problem solver with strong analytical skills and a passion for driving process excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with key NYSTEC partners and customers supporting both NYSTEC service delivery and community engagement goals.
  • Act as a liaison between NYSTEC and our federal, state, and local government partners.
  • Interact with current and prospective clients and partners to ensure an understanding of NYSTEC service offerings and to develop new opportunities.
  • Present to and engage live in-person and virtual audiences.
  • Support the design, development, delivery, and management of effective communications between the project team and stakeholders.
  • Lead and manage the development, oversight, and execution of events such as workshops, webinars, and conferences.
  • Cultivate and develop key partnerships between industry, academia, federal, and state agencies.
  • Collaborate with incubators, accelerators, startups, and other entrepreneurial support programs including leading one-on-one support sessions and workshops.
  • Champion NYSTEC's culture, values and reputation in NYSTEC's markets and with all staff, clients and partners.


About you:
Required Qualifications

  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively and be self-motivated.
  • Familiarity with project management knowledge and experience, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to manage and develop key relationships with colleagues and clients through collaborative thinking and a strong customer focus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at various levels.
  • Change management expertise to drive and support process changes while addressing resistance and ensuring successful adoption.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for client and team obligations.



Preferred/Desired Qualifications



  • Project management professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience with managing technical projects.
  • Technology transfer and commercialization, and small business knowledge.
  • Experience working in OCM, training, and communication management on NYS Government technology initiatives.


Education and Experience



  • A bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience in a business/technology setting is required. An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered. The ideal candidate has an educational or professional background in a field related to change management and will be able to apply a consultative approach to developing and implementing effective change management strategies.



The target base salary for this position is $79,000 - $109,000 per year. When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including skill set, experience, location, and job-related qualifications.
