Summary: The U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) is implementing the Accessions Information Environment (AIE) to modernize its recruiting and processing systems. AIE aims to replace multiple legacy systems with a single, integrated platform. This initiative will enhance prospecting, processing, and future Soldier management, potentially leading to improvements in identifying and retaining qualified candidates. Join Goldbelt Glacier supporting iterative, interactive and collaborative process supporting the implementation of the AIE System using the agile software acquisition process specified in DoDI 5000.87. We are seeking a mission-driven Product Owner (PO) to serve as the voice of the customer within Agile teams and drive the strategic alignment of development efforts. The PO is an essential part of the broader Product Management function and acts as the key liaison between business goals, customer needs, and Agile development execution. This role demands a strong sense of vision, excellent communication skills, and decisive leadership to deliver high-value solutions that align with the Solution Vision and organizational objectives.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Act as the primary advocate for the customer and the product strategy within the Agile team.
- Translate strategic objectives and stakeholder needs into actionable user stories and priorities.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management, Solution Architects, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with the Solution Vision.
- Define and manage the product backlog, prioritize features, and refine requirements based on evolving customer needs and feedback.
- Guide the Agile Team's efforts toward delivering maximum value and ensuring continuous delivery of high-quality product increments.
- Engage regularly with stakeholders to gather input, communicate progress, and align expectations.
- Participate in all Agile ceremonies including PI Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- Make informed, timely decisions to remove roadblocks and resolve conflicts between competing priorities.
- Ensure the solution reflects both user-centric and mission-focused design, especially within the context of Army Accessions.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of Agile frameworks and product development best practices.
- Strong ability to balance strategic vision with practical execution.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven decision-making abilities in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a business discipline such as business analytics, business information systems, business administration, logistics, statistics, sociology, political science, or finance
- Demonstrated experience in Army Accessions.
- Ability to successfully pass an employment background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a government, military, or defense contracting environment.
- Familiarity with Agile development tools.
