Senior SMS Infrastructure Administrator

HealthPartners is currently hiring a Senior SMS Infrastructure Administrator. The administrator has a pivotal role that significantly influences support, application delivery, and patch compliance. This position is responsible for performing both software and hardware maintenance, managing patches, and upgrading firmware. Additionally, this role maintains desktop documentation and hardware asset inventories.

A key responsibility of the administrator is to conduct impact and risk analysis for software and hardware releases, ensuring thorough testing and assessment are completed before any enterprise-wide deployment.

The SMS Infrastructure Senior reports to the Manager of Infrastructure Deployment Services and will be part of a team of eight, which includes a QA Manager, SMS Administrators, Engineers, and an Analyst.

Required Qualifications:



  • 4-year college degree or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years' experience performing Client Service Administration
  • 6+ years of IT experience
  • Strong experience providing excellent IT services within IT and to business partners.
  • Strong experience with word processing, e-mail, and Microsoft tools
  • Experience calculating capacity needs.
  • Basic network knowledge
  • Effective communication skills with technical and non-technical subjects
  • Experience writing technical documentation.
  • Good analysis and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong understanding of macOS, Windows Operating Systems and servers
  • General understanding of server administration
  • Experience performing disaster recovery testing and plan documentation.
  • Overall understanding of IT infrastructure
  • General understanding of Service Administration
  • Able to be on call 24 x7.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Microsoft 365 administration, including Intune and MS Graph API
  • PowerShell scripting experience
  • ServiceNow ticketing system experience.
  • Jamf management experience
  • Entra directory management experience


Hours/Location:



  • M-F; Days (8am-5pm)
  • On-call rotation that occurs once every six (6) weeks


Responsibilities:



  • Designs, develops, and tests LAN hardware and software for deployment.
  • Performs application and hardware upgrades, releases, and new development with the LAN.
  • Develops scripts to automate systems tasks within the LAN.
  • Manages patch management processes for operating systems.
  • Creates, monitors, and maintains SMS queries, inventory tracking, and reports.
  • Owns any directories/data associated within Systems Management and maintains the integration of that data/directory with other applications or operating systems.
  • Monitors and maintains IS&T's asset inventory, documentation inventory, and server applications.
  • Creates ad hoc reports regarding application deployment enterprise wide; ensuring the appropriate standards and versions are released.
  • Provides analysis for the integration of upgrades, releases, and recent technologies into the HealthPartners' network.
  • Develops risk analysis to ensure effective, efficient and security application deployment, upgrades, and releases.
  • Partners with vendors to ensure appropriate service analysis and testing.
  • Adjusts and customizes client server test environments to ensure effective deployment of enterprise workstation changes.
  • Creates, tests, and implements technical documentation.
  • Updates and maintains disaster recovery plans.
  • Maintains awareness of the latest developments in key areas of responsibility and brings forward opportunities that might benefit the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
