Our client in the higher education industry, is looking for an Archives Technician/Inventory Analyst who will assist with a large-scale shelf read and collections survey project. The Archives Technician will provide a preliminary assessment of materials' condition and accessibility, assist with lifting boxes, and other projects as assigned by the Director. Duties and Responsibilities 1.Conduct a comprehensive shelf read of archival storage stacks to verify locations and update records. 2.Survey collections to assess their physical condition, housing, labeling, and level of intellectual control. 3.Record detailed information about housing and extent. 4.Identify, document, and inform when issues such as mis-shelved items or preservation concerns are identified. 5.Rehouse materials as directed, including removing materials from frames. 6.Work with existing finding aids and catalog records to ensure consistency and accuracy. 7.Create labels with accurate listing of content according to our policies and procedures. 8.Review work and report progress to ensure timely completion. 9.Enter updated information into archives collections management software (AtoM). 10.Follow best practices for handling archival materials and adhere to institutional policies and procedures. 11.Assist with safely lifting, carrying, moving, and shelving boxes. 12.Other collections management and maintenance duties as they arise. Minimum Experience and Skills *Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. *Proficiency with data entry programs. *Other computer programs as defined by role. *Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and planning skills. *Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to work independently and as a member of a team. *Excellent ability to focus on detailed work. *Preferred experience working with archival or library collections, including physical handling of materials. *Additional Skills & Qualifications* Physical Requirements of the role: lift, carry, move, and shelve archival boxes of up to 40 lbs. Work on feet for most hours in cool temperature and low humidity room. Crouching down to read lowest shelf information. Climb ladders while also holding heavy materials. *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
