Job Description

Vanir is seeking a Business Development Manager to join our team in California. This is a key role in Vanir responsible for developing and maintaining client and stakeholder relationships, identifying, and building a pipeline of opportunities and winning work particularly as it relates to the Education (K-14) and Healthcare Sectors. This position ensures we engage the right clients in a meaningful way and are competitive in the marketplace. In this role you will become a familiar and welcome face of Vanir in the marketplace and a welcome and trusted Business Development leader among Vanir employees.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities may vary with company requirements and specific project and client requirements. However, in general, performs such typical duties as:

    Represent Vanir at conferences and other events that provide opportunities for visibility. Participate in exhibits and coordinate other employees in their involvement at such events.
  • Plan and lead Vanir's involvement in local professional associations.
  • Be actively involved in professional and community organizations.
  • Assist with strategic and business planning.
  • Develop and execute Vanir's publicity efforts including press releases, special mailings, guest speaker opportunities.
  • Maintain listing of prospective clients, update monthly.
  • Lead monthly meetings with key Vanir operations and leadership personnel to review and update status of opportunities. Take lead in discussing viability of leads, next steps, etc.
  • Initiate meetings with prospective clients that include key operations and leadership personnel when appropriate. Develop and execute follow-up strategies for each prospect.
  • Become thoroughly familiar with needs of prospective clients as they relate to Vanir's services.
  • Lead discussions on capture strategies for each prospect, document, follow-up and keep ideas fresh.
  • Lead development of key win points for proposals, participate in staffing and all other discussions related to successful capture.
  • Participate in proposal development to ensure proposal communicates clearly both by written material and graphics and is responsive to client's requests and needs and makes the best possible case for selecting Vanir.
  • Review proposal drafts for clarity, conciseness and ensure writing is of a professional quality.
  • Lead development of presentations, coach and encourage presenters.
  • Participate in client debriefs.
  • Establish and maintain CRM database for client relationships with current, former, and potential new clients.
  • Prepare and maintain CRM database of contractors, consultants, MBE's, and competitors.
  • Assist Corporate with maintaining all marketing materials.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, Marketing, Communication, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10 years related experience.
  • Experience in business development, marketing, public relations, communications for public sector and/or private sector organizations in the California market.
  • Existing network of service providers and clients in Education and/or Healthcare in California.
  • Superior interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with all types and levels of people, demonstrating persistence, tactfulness, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
  • Collaborative self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel throughout CA and occasionally outside of the area.
  • Ability to attend evening meetings and weekend events.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in business development for the A/E/C industry
  • Advanced degree(s) in Liberal Arts, Marketing, Communication, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related
  • Certification as a Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM)
  • Experience in writing articles for publication and making presentations on topics related to her/his profession

Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The Salary range for this position is $125,000.00-$160,000.00.
