YOUR IMPACT
This role is located at the Sacramento Data Center, in California. It's not a virtual role. This role will work as part of a team of engineers and technicians who deliver a variety of services in the design, management, maintenance, and operation of OpenText's global fleet of data centers. We are currently looking for a Senior Data Center Engineer to join our team and assist with managing the architecture and operations of our data centers. You will be part of a team supporting a large production environment and responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the data center infrastructure. The candidate will work with internal teams and external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues within our environment. The position oversees the production infrastructure and building facilities as it applies to Data Center Design, Standards, and Operations.

WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS
* Provide technical support to staff in supporting 24x7 computer operations.
* Administered and helped support multiple data centers running Windows and Linux OS.
* Assist in planning and oversight of all physical infrastructure activities affecting the data center facility.
* Ongoing technical support for activities involving Data Center services.
* Manage access to the data centers, ensuring appropriate access control lists are maintained at each facility and reporting to management about data center access.
* Responsible for notifying and coordinating assigned projects directly affecting business users.
* Enforce strict Change Management policies regarding data center resources.
* Assist in implementing service methodologies including but not limited to, incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management, etc.
* Ability to understand and manipulate critical systems monitoring software such as DCIM and Change control management tools.
* General maintenance of data center and assistance with general facilities as needed.
* Maintain proper operating temperatures and humidity suitable for computer systems.
* Provision and deploy a large inventory of server, network, and infrastructure equipment in a production environment.
* Removing and decommissioning hardware.
* Provision network and telecom technologies including but limited to switches/routers, load balancers, fiber cabling, and copper cabling.
* Advise on facility maintenance programs as well as equipment and system operations.
* Inventory control of Data Center related equipment.
* Be able to work on-call rotation.
* Work closely with vendors and smart hands at all our data centers.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
* At least 4 years of professional engineering experience (preferably in a Data Center Facility environment).
* Must have self-motivation and initiative with the ability to work independently.
* Linux and Windows system administration experience.
* Knowledge of computer hardware and networking equipment.
* Modern data center design experience.
* Data center capacity and growth planning, including rack and server layout as well as power and cooling.
* Work with our co-location providers to design cage layouts, and provision power and cooling for expansions as well as new deployments.
* Work with engineering departments to define project requirements for new data center hardware deployments.
* Track data center issues, troubleshoot and remedy hardware issues, and manage RMA processes with various vendors.
* BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. (or equivalent experience)
* IT Certifications such as A+, Server+, Network+, ITIL or similar a plus.
