Job Summary

Diagnose & perform major and minor repairs to all types of fleet equipment including but not limited to ready-mix trucks, semi road tractors, bulk cement trailers, and loaders. Work performed in the shop and in the field as needed and other duties as assigned.

Main Responsibilities
  • Adopt the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives
  • Support, promote, and practice the core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
  • Use diagnostic equipment, visual inspection, and other tools to diagnose faults or malfunctions to identify required repairs
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings as vital to ensure proper operation of equipment
  • Install new ignition systems, change/charge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and equipment, and adjust as necessary
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles
Skills
  • High school graduate or GED
  • 3 or more years of experience as a diesel/heavy equipment mechanic preferred
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to operate mobile devices (phone, tablet, etc.) and related applications
General Requirements
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) preferred
  • Valid DOT medical card and or ability to acquire
  • Have own Mechanic's tools
Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift or move up to 100 pounds
  • Able to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • Able to work in high and sometimes confined spaces
  • Able to work in wet and/or dry conditions and extreme heat and cold
