Bay Cove pursues this mission by providing individualized and compassionate services to people facing the challenges associated with developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness at more than 175 program sites throughout Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Job Summary:
The Recovery Navigator in the Bay Cove Behavioral Health and Wellness Center on Cape Cod will play a critical role in the successful implementation of the programming at the Bay Cove Behavioral Health and Wellness Center by working with members to overcome barriers and stigma and by assisting members to understand their medical and behavioral health system of care. This position contributes to Bay Cove's mission by working in a program providing access to services that address the needs of community members most impacted by deleterious social determinants of health.
This is a non-exempt position.
Essential Functions of the Position:
Provide Peer Support and/or Recovery Coaching to individuals by engaging in non-judgemental, compassionate, active listening to build one-to-one connections through the intentional sharing of one's own personal experiences with the purpose of building trust and enhancing the development of partnerships with individuals
Provide brief interventions in community/group settings to educate individuals on the availability of behavioral health services and assist members with navigating into a sustainable system of care
Serve as an advocate for individuals to assist in ensuring the integrity of the interactions between the person and their healthcare providers and human service agencies with the goal of reducing barriers to care to assure individuals receive the care they need when they need it
Educate and empower members on behavioral health interventions
Develop a person centered service plan in collaboration with the individual and document the plan in the person's electronic health record
Drive referrals regarding connections to any community or social services that align with the member's needs and goals
Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements for the Position:
Peer Specialist certification and/or Recovery Coach certification required
A High School diploma or GED plus two years direct care experience providing services to adults and families with mental health issues or related populations can be substituted for the above degree requirements with a preference for individuals with lived experience.
Experience in working with the target population of the Bay Cove Behavioral Health and Wellness Center; uninsured and underinsured individuals with serious mental health challenges and/or substance use disorders
Professional writing and oral communications skills.
Possesses knowledge of substance abuse assessment, recovery principles
High degree of personal organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.
Proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.
Use of personal cellular telephone for work communication.
