GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Trauma Program Manager manages the trauma service to include supervision of staff, trauma activities and patient flow; promotes optimal trauma care through clinical activities, professional and public education, research activities, performance improvement activities, and administrative functions. Works in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director to coordinate and facilitate the interdisciplinary needs of the trauma patient and their family.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

2. *Oversees Trauma Services to operate in conjunction with Bryan Health strategic priorities and facilitates strategic planning updates on an annual basis.
3. Works cooperatively with the Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Advanced Practice Providers, Trauma team leaders, and physicians to assess and help direct quality patient care.
4. *Aligns the trauma program with the standards and criteria set forth by the American College of Surgeons and monitors for continued compliance
5. *Supervises, hires, trains and evaluates assigned personnel in the trauma service; assures coordination of all activities concerning the trauma program.
6. Functions as the primary liaison between the department and Bryan Physician Network to ensure an integrated operation of the facilities within the overall system.
7. Responsible for compliance of the practice management and electronic medical records systems processes and procedures. Maintains accurate and timely data input to comply with BPN and Bryan Medical Center Standards.
8. *Coordinates trauma education; works cooperatively with the Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Advanced Practice Providers, Trauma Team leaders and physicians to assess and help direct quality patient care.
9. Supports trauma prevention through data collection and education at the local and regional levels.
10. *Coordinates or presents trauma-related education programs for appropriate hospital staff; works with Education and Staff Development to continually update the hospital trauma education and to facilitate trauma education for the community.
11. *Serves as a resource and liaison for the pre-hospital care providers in the system.
12. *Works closely with the Emergency Department Nursing Manager to assure appropriate response, organization and documentation for the trauma patient.
13. Designs/assists with research specific to improving the care of the trauma patient; performs data collection, registry studies, presentations and/or publications related to trauma care and prevention.
14. *Participates in code traumas, trauma outpatient clinic, and inpatient evaluation through completing physical assessment, evaluation and treatment procedures and documentation as called upon based on current scope of professional practice.
15. Maintains awareness of legislation effecting trauma care.
16. *Assists Trauma Medical Director in developing and implementing performance improvement indicators for trauma care; supports nursing/hospital quality improvement goals and works closely with Trauma Registrars in monitoring indicators.
17. Responsible for service line budgeting and expense management along with investigating and analyzing new revenue enhancing opportunities.
18. *Partners with staff and providers to resolve issues, decrease expenses, increase productivity and promote efficiency.
19. *Assists in the credentialing, recruiting and scheduling of providers, as well as tracking of CME and training requirements of providers.
20. Represents Bryan Trauma at required meetings, boards, conferences and community/system events.
21. Works with appropriate staff to develop an ongoing performance improvement program related to trauma and
22. Active member/chair of various nursing and hospital committees/task forces.

24. Coordinates and supports prevention activities led by the Trauma Outreach and Injury Prevention Coordinator and works collaboratively with state and regional agencies to provide education and information on trauma prevention.
25. Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from a School of Nursing with current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act. Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing or related field or significant progress toward Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of three (3) years clinical nursing experience, preferably in trauma critical care area required. Trauma Outcomes Protocol Course desired or completed within one year of employment Experience in working with a designated trauma facility preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Current certification in Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC) or certification within the first six (6) months of employment required.
