Scope of Work:
The Carpenter performs a variety of Carpentry-trade functions.
Responsibilities:
- Installation, maintenance, or repair of general structural construction, framing, building and installation of cabinets, stairs, roofs or trim work.
- Installation and repair of roofs or wallcoverings such as drywall, paneling, vinyl Celotex, Masonite sheeting, veneer, curtain/drapes, asphalt shingles, galvanized steel, or rubberized sheeting, foam roof coverings and wood cove base.
- Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
- Working standard computations relating to various requirements; and using a variety of carpenter's hand tools and measuring instruments
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- In general, the work of the carpenter requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years hands-on carpentry work experience and/or formal vocational/technical training.
- Must have knowledge of hazardous material/waste disposal requirements.
- Must be able to accurately measure; posses knowledge of hand and power tools as they relate to wood working; knowledge of drywall, the installation of vents, tiles and suspended ceiling systems; ability to size, mortis and install new door blanks and capable of installing various types of molding.
- Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check.
- Must be able to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet the customer's mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors environments. Some work is performed with exposure to low to loud noise level; frequent fieldwork is required with exposure to a variety of weather conditions and the external environment; tasks may require working in tightly enclosed spaces and the use of ladders or other safety equipment to gain access to hard-to-reach locations; some work is performed in crawl spaces, attics or on rooftops. Some work may require exposure to dust, particulates, unpleasant and potentially hazardous substances and high voltage.
- Duties require on a continuous basis to sit, stand, bend, climb ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and twist for varying periods in the course of work; use hands and fingers to grasp tools; make repetitive hand and body motions; twist and reach below and above shoulder; lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; to communicate with co-workers using a two-way radio; use telephone, and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means; see in the normal vision range with or without correction to read computer screen, blueprints, and drafting plans; hear in the normal range with or without correction.
