Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Lead Cloud Administrator - Cloud Operations.
In this role, the successful Lead Cloud Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the company's cloud computing infrastructure, including provisioning of cloud resources, configuring networks, managing user access, ensuring security, optimizing performance, and troubleshooting issues within the cloud environment, all while adhering to compliance requirements and cost-efficiency strategies. At NYU Langone Health, we leverage multiple cloud vendors, public and private, that cater to our clinical, administrative, educational, and research staff. The Lead Cloud Administrator will be part of our Platform Technologies and Cloud Operations team and manage multiple cloud technologies that provide optimal performance, continuity, and efficiency in on-demand environments supporting an expanding suite of cloud infrastructure services and applications. This would include performing assessments, collaborating with other cloud vendors and infrastructure teams and working with key strategic partners/vendors to monitor services, security, cloud usage, resource allocation and maintenance of cloud infrastructure and services and ensure all are properly maintained and always within accepted MCIT policies and guidelines.
As a member of the Platform Technologies and Cloud Operations team, the Lead Cloud Administrator will also have the chance to offer new ideas on how we continue to develop our multi-platform technologies. Platform Technologies and Cloud Operations teams are comprised of plan-build-run for both private and cloud as well as physical and virtualized servers, storage, networks, databases, and critical applications.
The individual should be comfortable working across all of NYU Langone Healths business units as well as leveraging the latest recognized technologies and processes to achieve the required goals.
Job Responsibilities:
- Increase the effectiveness of NYU Langone Health Cloud infrastructure and operations by ensuring high availability, performance and value through excellent customer service: Playing a vital role in designing, managing and maintaining the company's cloud systems and infrastructure which includes managing permissions, data transfers and security, managing updates and troubleshooting.
- Monitoring and analyzing the capabilities and performance of all cloud systems.
- Comparing, evaluating and implementing new technologies, and integrating systems into the computing environment, tracking cloud resource utilization, identifying performance bottlenecks, and optimizing cloud infrastructure for efficiency.
- Analyzing cloud usage patterns and identifying opportunities to reduce cloud spending.
- Setting up cloud virtual networks, firewalls, and network access control lists to secure cloud communication.
- Implementing security policies, monitoring threats, and ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations.
- Communicating effectively within and across multiple teams including vendors when required.
- Drive cultural change and increase collaboration levels within the organization: Provide leadership and expertise across the function, while driving performance improvement, building technical capability and developing talent
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement that proactively manages resolution of serious and complex problems, identifying underlying causes and performing corrective action appropriately.
- Support the rapid integration of emerging technologies and innovation, allowing our internal/external applications to access their data securely anywhere and anytime.
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in information systems, computer science or related field
- 7+ years of experience in the IT arena including experience managing multiple engineering projects and initiatives, Industry vendor knowledge and established relationships, translating complex technical information and implications into business-oriented language, and experience with architecture review board governance structure.
- Years of experience should also include 5+ years experience with the following: cloud service providers AWS, Azure, GCP; AWS CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail, Microsoft Azure Monitoring, Google Cloud Monitoring and other monitoring technologies; Linux and Windows server administration; network protocols, subnetting, and security implementations.
- Years of experience should also include 3+ years experience with the following:containerization technologies (OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes) as applicable to cloud infrastructure and applications; cloud security threats and mitigation strategies.
- Able to communicate complex technical information and implications in business-oriented language.
- A demonstrable degree of creativity and latitude, to work cross-functionally across different divisions.
- Able to communicate complex technical information and implications in business-oriented language.
- Function as a catalyst for change by identifying opportunities for business and/or IT performance improvement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Health care experience a plus; understanding of the requirements of an integrated academic medical center.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $117,107.95 - $159,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
