ChampionX has an immediate need for an Instrumentation & Electrical Specialist (I&E) located in Odessa, TX.

What You Will Do:

  • As the I&E Specialist, you will support our extensive customer base by providing excellent service and support to their Multiplex Plunger Pump systems used on Salt Water Disposals, and Jet Lifted wells.
  • You will also use your expertise to support a top-tier service team that drives a safe and continuous improvement culture to expand our reach of customers.
  • Perform all job duties with a Safety First approach.
  • Responsibilities include installing, inspecting, maintaining, operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating various mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment on pump systems, including but not limited to Variable Speed Drives (VFD), Soft Start Drives, junction boxes, electrical switches, transducers.
  • Familiar with oil field automation equipment and its communications, including but not limited to computer skills in SCADA, MODBUS, SQL, Windows operating environment, database technologies, and networking.
  • Executes the complete wiring of pump systems from fabrication and full testing of all systems.
  • Inspection and Maintenance (I&M) checks on all control systems.
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself.
  • Support field locations with troubleshooting
  • Develop standard operating procedures and best practices.
  • Continually research ways to improve the pump systems and service.
  • Perform housekeeping and general maintenance as required.
  • Complete all required paperwork timely and with complete detail.
  • Complete all internal safety training and observations on time.

Position Details:

  • Candidate must reside in Odessa or Midland, TX area
  • Route territory will include Southeast New Mexico, West Texas
  • Workweek and shift: 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week, excess hours, as required, to meet business needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 7 years of experience installing, troubleshooting and servicing Oilfield related electrical equipment
  • Working knowledge of National Electric Code
  • Proficient with electronic test instruments
  • Knowledge and experience with SCADA networks, MODBUS communications, and remote monitoring systems
  • Knowledge and experience preparing drawings of electrical circuits
  • Knowledge and experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams
  • Knowledge and experience applying and interpreting results from common electrical measurement instruments (voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, etc.)
  • Intermediate oral and written communication skills
  • Organization and time management skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to follow prescribed company policies, procedures, and protocols for installation, service, and equipment maintenance
  • Interact politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkers
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize
  • Follow all safety policies and company-wide safety requirements; encourage action assuring safe behavior; confront unsafe behavior and conditions proactively and positively
  • Work in an unsupervised environment
  • Read, write, and speak English fluently

  • Indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. Activities occur indoors and outdoors.
