POSITION TITLE: Truck Driver (Non-CDL/DOT) DEPARTMENT: The Salvation Army, Divisional Headquarters Operated Store SUPERVISOR: Retail Manager STATUS: Full-Time / 40 hours per week; Non-exempt SCOPE OF POSITION: The Truck Driver is responsible for the safety and security of trucks and equipment, and the safe handling of all goods and materials. This position also assists with marking and moving merchandise in the day-to-day operations of the warehouse. The Truck Driver will also be responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of our online retail platform. The E-Commerce Associate's responsibilities will include creating product listings, photographing, and enhancing the customer experience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Ability to carry out oral and written instructions with minimum supervision. 2. Ability to read map books, plan routes, and use a two-way radio. 3. Skilled in providing excellent customer service by giving prompt and courteous assistance to internal and external customers. 4. Current Alaska driver's license with acceptable driving and criminal history records. Demonstrated competency in skill area as indicated by verifiable training and/or experience. 5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 6. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 7. Must meet all state requirements to be in compliance with DOT and Alaska state rules, which may include obtaining a medical certification from an approved provider. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Plan daily routing based on store drop offs of processed material. 2. Provide daily inspections of trucks, checking air, water, oil and other items to ensure equipment is clean and well maintained. 3. Assist with onloading and offloading of merchandise. 4. Work in cooperation with Warehouse Lead to assist with production needs as available. 5. Act as a Salvation Army representative ensuring that customers are always treated courteously. 6. Help to ensure warehouse cleanliness inside and out. 7. Assist with making and loading recycle bales. 8. Assist with the loss prevention program, reporting all incidents of loss to management in a timely manner. 9. Report safety hazards; assist in the protection of property, vehicles, and buildings. 10. Instruct, supervise, and assist any ride-along assistant when loading and unloading merchandise, exhibiting that good work habits are taught by example as well as by instruction. 11. Create and update product listings, ensuring accurate product descriptions, images, and specifications. 12. Selecting high valued merchandise located at the warehouse to sell on online platform. 13. Testing items to confirm functionality or authenticity prior to posting (e.g., electronics, jewelry). 14. Administer inventory procedures to track active listings and securely store pending items in designated areas. 15. Address stock shipping, scheduling, and ensuring timely order fulfilment. 16. Provide excellent customer support via email, message, and phone, addressing customer inquiries and concerns. 17. Meeting daily posting quotas and weekly and monthly sales targets determined by Supervisor. 18. Perform other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Speaking, sitting, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, standing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, handling, fingering, climbing, and balancing. Hearing and visual acuity must be within normal limits. Lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Driving a motor vehicle. Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed both inside a warehouse environment and outside in loading and unloading trucks. Occasional exposure to cold temperatures and wet conditions. Noise level is generally low to medium. Hearing protection may be worn when working around operating machinery. SOFTWARE-RELATED SKILLS: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook familiarity preferred. Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to understand, follow and give both written and oral instructions and be comfortable working with diverse individuals in face-to-face contact and over the telephone. The employee must be able to use speech and hearing for ordinary and telephone conversation. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be able to perform simple calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and apply concepts such as ratios and percentages in practical situations. PERFORMANCE SKILLS: Must be punctual, organized, self-motivated, flexible, and possess a desire to learn and assist those he/she interacts with. PROTECT THE MISSION: Must complete the online course for this area and pass the Background Checks required by The Salvation Army for employment.
