DEPARTMENT: Case Coordination
POSITION TITLE: Clinical Social Work Manager GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Clinical Social Work Manager oversees clinical services and operations supporting vulnerable populations throughout Sibley Memorial Hospital, including the Emergency Room and Women & Infant Services. This role is responsible for evaluating, planning, and improving clinical care and programming, ensuring alignment with hospital policies, and promoting the hospital's mission and vision. The Supervisor ensures high-quality, patient- and family-centered care through leadership in clinical practice, staff development, continuing education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. They play a key role in strategic planning, problem-solving, and addressing patient and family needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promotes and upholds the mission, vision, and values of Sibley Memorial Hospital; ensures staff understanding and alignment.
- Fosters a culture of compassion, continuous improvement, teamwork, professionalism, and open communication.
- Serves as a clinical role model, demonstrating expertise and ensuring continuity and quality of care.
- Develops and monitors professional practice standards; evaluates and improves clinical outcomes.
- Provides clinical supervision for unlicensed social workers to support licensure advancement.
- Manages projects independently from planning through completion, ensuring collaboration and follow-through.
- Guides staff through change with clarity, communication, and emotional support.
- Maintains a strong commitment to patient care quality and satisfaction.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- LICSW licensure in the District of Columbia.
- Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of three years' experience in social work or counseling with complex health issues.
- Current CPR certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Inpatient clinical experience and prior leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience working with diverse populations across the lifespan.
- Background in hospital-based multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong knowledge of DC-area community resources (inpatient and outpatient).
Salary Range: Minimum $51.53/hour - Maximum $90.17/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
