Position Overview

At Zelis, we're modernizing and scaling our technology infrastructure-and we're looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to drive CI/CD, cloud automation, and operational excellence. This role is ideal for an experienced DevOps professional who thrives in a collaborative engineering environment, is passionate about automation, and can help scale secure, reliable infrastructure across teams.

What You'll Do:

  • Build, scale, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps

  • Automate deployment and testing workflows using scripting tools like PowerShell, Python, or Bash

  • Implement security best practices to protect applications and data from threats

  • Support cloud infrastructure with a focus on automation, observability, and resilience

  • Drive the measurement, monitoring, and reporting of availability, latency, and overall system health using SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs

  • Collaborate with developers, QA, and operations to streamline delivery and optimize engineering workflows

  • Participate in quarterly team meetings and collaboration sessions (travel to NJ as needed)

  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and pipeline issues efficiently and proactively

What You'll Do:

  • 3-6 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or build/release engineering roles

  • Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD tools, especially GitHub, Git-based repositories, and pipeline automation

  • Solid understanding of cloud platforms, preferably Azure (AWS or GCP also valuable)

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python

  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Azure Monitor, Splunk, or similar

  • Knowledge of SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs in performance and reliability monitoring

  • Comfortable working in Agile teams and collaborating across development, QA, and operations

  • Willingness to travel (~20%) for planning and collaboration sessions

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, ARM templates)

  • Exposure to package/dependency managers like NPM or NuGet

  • Background in DevSecOps or experience embedding security into CI/CD workflows

  • A passion for automation, performance measurement, and continuously improving system reliability

What This Role Is Not:

This is not a traditional sysadmin or reactive support position. It's a hands-on engineering role focused on automation, cloud tooling, and secure delivery pipelines, where you'll shape how systems are built, released, and scaled.
