Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Fieldwork such as soil, surface water, soil vapor, and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, construction quality assurance and oversight; and groundwater remediation treatment system operation and maintenance (O&M);
  • Manage project tasks and schedules, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects;
  • Provide contamination assessment services, such as designing and implementing sampling plans, reviewing chemical analysis results; supporting bench-scale treatability testing, and pilot test programs;
  • Support aquifer testing and hydrogeologic data analysis and chemical data and contaminant fate & transport evaluations;
  • Perform data analysis/visualization of site investigation data, including the preparation of tables, maps, and figures;
  • Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in engineering, geology or related field. (preferred)
  • Professional Certification - Engineer in Training (EIT). (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of related experience conducting field investigations and studies, including observation of drilling and well installation, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and other field techniques, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Prior experience in contaminated media or remediation technology. (required)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental remediation. (required)
  • Technical experience in engineering, geology, geotechnical, environmental, or related disciplines. (required)
  • Experience with ArcView/GIS, MS Access and database management (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and related software. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $76,135/ Maximum Salary: $95,170 (Chicago, IL)
