ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

Expected Hiring Range: $90,000 - $110,000 annual base salary (not including annual bonus eligibility)

The Benefits Operations Lead plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing Performant's benefits strategy, ensuring that our offerings are competitive, compliant, and aligned with our organizational goals. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Carrier Relations and Billing Reconciliation: Managing relationships with benefit carriers and ensuring accurate billing processes.

  • Communication Campaigns and Open Enrollment: Leading communication efforts and overseeing the annual open enrollment process to maximize employee engagement and understanding.

  • Compliance and Data Analysis: Maintaining a compliance calendar, conducting related data analysis, and coordinating ADA requests to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serving as the go-to expert on all health and welfare offerings, including medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, life, disability, flexible spending, health savings, wellness, and retirement plans.

As a key member of the benefits team, the Benefits Operations Lead shares accountability for the success of the function. This includes providing insights based on analytics, statistics, and benchmarking to drive progressive benefits that support Performant's employees and enhance their overall well-being.

By leveraging data-driven insights and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, the Benefits Operations Lead will contribute to the development of innovative benefits solutions that attract and retain top talent, ultimately driving Performant's success.

This position is remote and requires a suitable home office with limited travel required (averaging approximately 10% annually).

Key Responsibilities to include:

  • Strategically plan and implement communication campaigns for health and welfare programs

  • Manage processes related to LOA, including FMLA, state regulations, and ADA accommodations, ensuring compliance and support of employees

  • Oversee benefit enrollment activities, including new hire and open enrollment, to ensure smooth and efficient experience

  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes through research

  • Manage compliance calendar for the Benefits Team including gathering and formatting of data and submissions, as required

  • Ability to collect accurate, refined data from HRIS to analyze data and create statistics

  • Offer recommendations on improving benefits programs, addressing employee concerns, and aligning benefits with overall business goals to identify trends and patterns, providing actionable insights for strategic planning

  • Performs other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team and organization

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed:

This position is instrumental in the implementation of new programs, vendors, and initiatives. As such, this role requires the following key knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • High-level organization and communication skills to ensure seamless execution and clear communication across all levels of the organization.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of benefit programs - a deep understanding of benefit and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, 401k, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, critical illness, accident insurance, and wellness programs.

  • Commitment to delivering high quality solutions / responses to employees

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Benefit program design and administration

  • Vendor management

  • Thorough understanding of local, state and federal laws involving benefits administration / compliance relating to benefits, leave of absence, time off, ADA, etc.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and payroll

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Required and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field; equivalent combination of education/training and experience may be considered.

  • At least 5 years of benefit plan administration experience required; experience in a self-insured environment strongly preferred.

  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality in all situations

  • Demonstrated ability as a high-functioning member of a corporate HR team
