DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is a seasonal Forest Technician position in Pennsylvania's Delaware Forest District, serving the counties of Monroe and Pike. Your primary duties will involve participating in state forest management activities in accordance to our State Forest Resource Plan, as well as wildfire prevention and suppression activities. Work also involves assisting with landscape/compartment examinations of the Delaware State Forest, annual regeneration practices, and recreational facility development.

You will frequently use forestry tools and equipment, as well as collect various types of data to help protect the forest's unique flora and fauna, geologic formations, and archeological features. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with NO healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2026.
  • Location: The headquarters location for this position will move from the Monroe County, Swiftwater office to our newly constructed Pike County, Porter Township office in Summer 2025.
    • Monroe County: 2174 Route 611, Swiftwater, PA 18370
    • Pike County: 102 Delaware Forest Court, Dingmans Ferry, PA 18328
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday - Wednesday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • An associate's degree in forest technology; or
  • Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.

Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
