National Grid is hiring an Manager, Strategy, Policy & Regulatory
This position can be located in Brooklyn or Melville, NY
This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to one of our locations

Job Purpose

The Manager for the Strategy, Policy, and Regulatory team within the Customer Advocacy & Success team, will lead the development of the overarching strategy for the vulnerable customer segments (Low-to-Moderate Income, Disadvantaged Communities, and Environmental Justice Communities) in NY and MA. This plan will be derived by leading a team of strategist and analyst to research, analyse data and policy, and conceptualize new products and services to improve the customer experience and enrollment. Additionally, the manager must lead the team in working cross functionally, with Customer Experience organization, Policy & Regulatory organization, and other teams within the larger Customer Organization to develop one central strategic plan. The manager will also be responsible for: creating short and long-term growth strategies, managing stakeholder engagement, project managing regulatory filings and initiatives, and conduction policy analysis. Ultimately, being a SME for the Customer organizations interests in the
policy and regulatory landscape by being the first line of contact for internal stakeholders. Lastly, they will serve as the Customer organizations main liaison with the New York Public Service Commission (PSC) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Utility (DPU).

Key Accountabilities
  • Accountable for developing the overarching strategy for the vulnerable customer segment (LMI, DAC, EJC) i.e. Holistic plan to increase enrollment short term and long term.
  • Ability to research and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to develop strategy and solutions to increase enrollment and awareness of programs and products.
  • Drive cross-vertical/interdepartmental collaboration by developing time-integrated plans with marketing, regulatory, product success, customer advocates, and jurisdictional business unit teams.
  • Develop and deliver presentations about the vulnerable customer segment and the Company's position to state regulators, stakeholders, consumer groups, and other utility companies.
  • Participate in regulatory proceedings by developing and reviewing regulatory filings, sponsoring and/or drafting testimony, and processing discovery questions.
  • Project manage, track, and communicate regulatory updates and compliance requirements to internal stakeholders ie. Rate cases, regulatory filings.
  • Responsible for written regulatory reporting ie. Combine various departments performance information into a cohesive narrative and report for the organization.
  • Responsible for policy and program initiatives design ie. conceptualization
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business or policy related field and 3+ years of experience as a leader managing a team. Advance Degree in Public Administration, Policy, or Management preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with regulatory affairs required; Strong understanding of navigating regulatory environments and the ability to interpret regulatory orders.
  • Experience developing and executing customer strategy with strong value propositions to drive customer awareness, impact policy, and increase product utilization.
  • Ability to communicate (both verbally and written) clearly and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Skilled at managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Comfortable leading through ambiguity and change.

$127,000 - $149,000 a year - Upstate, NY

$152,000 - $179,000 a year - Downstate, NY
$142,000 - $167,000 a year - Massachusetts
Salary commensurate with location and experience

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
