What is the opportunity?

You will serve as a dedicated point of contact/liaison between money managers, registered advisors, branches, trading, settlements and other operation departments. You will provide assistance with taking live orders over the phone, action trade reject notifications that are received from the market centers and immediately notify the field. You will assist with errors, problem executions, work with settlements to resolve trade issues/breaks and be available for all system down times. You will have the chance to mediate conflict situations in a manner to ensure the best solution for the parties involved. Position contains increased elements of risk which are managed through operational reviews, system checks, and adherence to procedures.

What will you do?

  • Perform complex tasks within an area or department and provide work support when department personnel are not available.
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse group of equity and option traders, correspondents, money managers, and RBC Personnel by asking and answering questions in an accurate, professional, and timely manner.
  • You would also assist with monitoring work volumes, daily reports and inventories. Work with associates to resolve issues in a timely manner and notify supervisors of critical items or trends.
  • You would also perform periodic evaluations of processes of all desks for possible improvements in efficiency, risk management and/or use of technology. Discuss ideas for improvements with the supervisor and implement agreed upon changes.
  • Assist during heavy volume periods or in the daily absence of staff to complete departmental processing in an accurate and timely manner to minimize overtime and with minimal assistance.
  • Provide on-the-job training and work direction to staff members.
  • Provide recommendations or enhancements for department procedures or processes.
  • Verify, input and/or maintain information/data into computer files, databases or systems or in record retention systems. Work may include statistical reports to department management.
  • Understand how processing can impact clients, departments and firm and anything else downstream.
  • Refer to department manuals for instructions, task assignments and work functions required for the specific role.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of operations experience or equivalent industry related experience.
  • Record of providing outstanding customer service in a faster-paced environment.
  • Strong decision-making ability. Must be willing to strive to find solutions to client problems and issues.
  • Position may involve a high degree of stress and pressure.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
  • Effective problem identification, analytical and resolution skills. Ability to gather and analyze relevant information clearly and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management
  • Intermediate to advanced skills utilizing MS Excel.
  • Series 7 and 63 or 66 licenses.
  • Understanding of Equity and Option markets

Nice-to-have

  • College degree.
  • Knowledge/Experience in Equity, Options, Preferreds, Settlements
  • Strong understanding of RBC's back office systems (i.e. Broadridge, Fiserv APL, FIX connectivity).
  • Prior experience working on a trading desk or trade operations.

The expected salary range for this particular position is $50,000 - $85,000 depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.

You have the potential to earn more through RBC's discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
