As an Electro-Optical Test Development Engineer at Nokia, you will be integral to our innovation in optical communication technology. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product development, firmware, and DSP engineers, you will develop and refine test plans to optimize the performance of our cutting-edge coherent pluggable products. Your role will involve crafting scalable software solutions, configuring test instrumentation, and automating test execution to enhance yield and efficiency. The work environment is dynamic and collaborative, fostering a culture of creativity and problem-solving where your contributions directly impact our product's success.   • Develop and execute software, hardware, and test plans for calibrating and measuring the performance of coherent pluggable optical products.
  • Characterize optical transceivers and address factors impacting optical signal performance.
  • Configure and deploy test instrumentation to streamline testing processes.
  • Collaborate with product teams to create innovative optical calibration sequences that enhance module performance.
  • Automate test execution through robust software solutions.
  • Establish and implement detailed testability requirements with engineering teams.
  • Provides fault isolation expertise to assist design and manufacturing processes.
  • Drive improvements in test yields and reduction of test times across projects.


  • MS in Science or Engineering; PhD preferred (Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering)
  • Proficient in scalable software development, experience with object-oriented languages required
  • Familiarity with optical communication basics and quadrature amplitude modulation theory
  • Hands-on experience with optical and electrical test equipment (e.g., power meters, spectrum analyzers)


It would be nice if you also had:



  • Experience in developing test and measurement solutions for optical components or subsystems
  • Exposure to VB. Net and digital/mixed signal IC testing
  • Experience with Serdes, electrical RF testing, or FEC operation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce detailed test plan documentation
