Application Evaluators must be available for online training a few hours per day during select dates in September and October leading up to our October 15th early application deadline. Starting the week of October 6th, Application Evaluators will need to make themselves available for weekly online meetings including each Wednesday morning from 10 am - 11:30 am EST. Fast and reliable home internet is necessary.

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions has the privilege and responsibility of being the primary point of contact for students seeking admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as undergraduates. In its role evaluating first-year and transfer students, the office works tirelessly to identify, recruit, admit, and welcome students who will positively contribute to our campus, state, and nation. The office also supports students by providing academic counseling, sponsors hundreds of events encouraging students to further their education, and works to enhance the image of the University locally and nationally. Members of the office understand that their work is intensely public and is closely followed by students and their families; secondary-school teachers and administrators; University faculty and staff; lawmakers; and media.
Position Summary
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a creative, committed, and clear-minded professional to fill a temporary Application Evaluator position in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The Application Evaluator will read student applications and make admission decisions for first year and transfer candidates. This is a temporary appointment during which the candidate will work an average of 30 hours per week from October through March. The Application Evaluator will have the same authority to commit the University to an admission decision that is currently exercised by Assistant and Senior Assistant Directors of Admissions.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Must possess excellent written communication skills to produce clear and professional assessments, along with strong technical proficiency to navigate digital platforms and evaluation tools. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently, manage their time effectively, and meet deadlines without a fixed schedule. Close attention to detail is essential for thoroughly reviewing applications while adhering to established guidelines and procedures. Additionally, candidates should be comfortable working for extended periods in a seated position, maintaining focus throughout the evaluation process, and ensuring consistent, fair assessments by following predetermined rules and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Professional experience in admissions, recruitment, education, or a related field.
