About the Job

The Researcher 1 will assist in conducting scientific research under the direction of a principal investigator or senior researcher. This entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with some research experience who are looking to build a career in academic or applied research environments.

Key Responsibilities:
80% Research
- Conduct experiments, collect data, and assist with routine laboratory procedures.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure a clean and organized work environment.
- Maintain mouse colony and help with mouse handling and genotyping.
- Record, organize, and analyze research data using established protocols and software tools.

20% Laboratory Coordination
- Prepare and make orders of reagents.
- Assist in the preparation of research reports, presentations, and publications.
- Participate in lab meetings and contribute to ongoing research discussions.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, ethical, and institutional regulations.

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., biology, chemistry, neuroscience, psychology, engineering) or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least four years.
- Basic knowledge of research methods and laboratory techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with rodents research.

Neuroscience is the scientific study of the nervous system. It is an interdisciplinary science that collaborates with other fields such as chemistry, computer science, engineering, linguistics, mathematics, medicine and allied disciplines, philosophy, physics, and psychology.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $21 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
