Job Summary

Responsible for planning and procuring materials, components, equipment, and services that support operations. Performs planning and generates plans of materials for major product lines and/or material groups. Analyzes consumption behaviors and use rates; proposes buying strategies and adjusts buy plans. Advises supply chain partners such as Purchasing, Engineering and Customer Services about material availability and exposure. Proactively manages inventory levels and buying strategies. Participate in Supplier Reviews and represent Planning in meetings related to inventory management and exposure such as New Product Development, Introduction, Roll-Over or End-of-Life. Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, service and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels. As required, monitors the inventory levels, schedules, lead times, modes of shipment, country of origin, and any related part information like orderable minimum, pallet sizing, master carton sizing, etc. Leads or participates in supply chain initiatives to reduce lead time and total cost of inventory and improve availability. May lead other junior and/or less experienced planners in similar functional area.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review purchase requisitions and procure materials from partner suppliers.
  • Track consumption and monitor accuracy of requisitions and buy plans.
  • Maintain replenishment settings to improve on-time delivery and decrease inventory value.
  • Maintain production schedules of finished goods.
  • Participates in activities of inventory reporting accuracy.
  • Analyzes inventory and proposes inventory strategies.
  • Leads or participates in projects that improve production systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

Detail-oriented, self-starter with strong communication and organizational skills. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to multi-task and work collaboratively as well as independently in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment. The required qualifications are as follows:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment is required.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to learn and use SAP applications proficiently.
  • Excellent skills in Excel and other database applications.
  • Experience or good knowledge of inventory and buffer strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong negotiating and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to carry out scope of work with little instruction and able to make good decisions about situations and be able to lead and participate in business initiatives.
