THE POSITION

The Enterprise Architect for the Department of the Air Force at Quantico, VA, is responsible for designing and maintaining IT architecture aligned with strategic goals. This role leads enterprise data management projects, develops IT frameworks, and ensures integration across systems using DoD-approved tools. Key focus areas include application, data, and technology architecture, with responsibilities extending to cyber operations, counterintelligence, and risk mitigation. The architect supports enterprise service workflows using classified/unclassified data, adheres strictly to DoD/AF guidelines, and drives technical innovations to enhance mission support and operational visibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Lead enterprise IT architecture design across application, data, and technology domains aligned with DoD/AF standards.
  • Analyze technical requirements, conduct feasibility studies, and support cyber capability assessments and system performance evaluations.
  • Produce data-driven insights, metrics, and visualizations for classified and unclassified environments to inform strategic decisions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, track project progress, and maintain accurate documentation and reporting for contractual deliverables.
  • Support cloud architecture, DevSecOps, and Zero Trust implementation using tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Ansible, and Docker.
  • Develop disaster recovery and COOP plans in accordance with NIST and DAFI standards.
  • Research and integrate innovative technologies to optimize mission performance and ensure cybersecurity compliance.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly in reports, briefings, and documentation, support training and process improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to Air Force technology standards and provide lifecycle support for new implementations.
  • Maintain compliance with security, safety, and regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Active Top-Secret Clearance; AND,
  • BS in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science, or GFACT or GCLD or GSEC; AND,
  • CompTIA Security+CE; AND,
  • 8 years of experience in strategic planning, data modeling, and IT architecture.



PREFERRED:



  • Leading enterprise-wide technology insertion planning and lifecycle support strategy development
  • Designing and maintaining Disaster Recovery (DR) and Continuity of Operations (COOP) architectures aligned with NIST SP 800-34, SP 800-53, and DAFI 10-208
  • Applying Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and ICAM principles within DoD/IC environments
  • Supporting or participating in Air Force or DoD continuity programs, including classified enclave operations (e.g., SIPR, JWICS)
  • Evaluating and integrating emerging technologies such as AI/ML, automation, or advanced cloud-native services into secure enterprise IT environments
  • Architecting solutions that comply with DISA STIGs, RMF, and DISA Cloud SRG/IL controls
  • Developing and presenting proposals to Project Approval Boards (PAB) and other enterprise governance or innovation bodies
  • Leading enterprise architecture initiatives using frameworks such as TOGAF, DoDAF, or ITIL
  • Overseeing DevSecOps enablement using tools like Terraform, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Ansible, and Docker
  • Implementing and governing solutions across multi-cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Cloud One, Azure)
