U.S. Facilities, Inc., a leader in comprehensive building maintenance services, is excited to announce an opening for a Lead Custodian position in Philadelphia, PA. This vital role reports directly to a supervisor and plays a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of the facility. We are looking for candidates with a strong knowledge of cleaning equipment, floor maintenance tools, alarm and security systems, and excellent communication skills to engage with custodial staff and school personnel effectively.
As a Lead Custodian, this person will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness across all areas of the facility. This includes offices, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, and essential public spaces like cafeterias, gymnasiums, auditoriums, and restrooms. They will also have the opportunity to take on project work, primarily focused on floor maintenance, when assigned by your supervisor. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversees the work performance of assigned custodians to ensure that cleaning services meet department-defined standards.
- Maintains quality standards in non-routine cleaning tasks and emergencies.
- Assigns personnel to designated work areas and project sites.
- Adjust employee work schedules for absences, vacant positions, or other interruptions to meet daily work requirements.
- Responds to stakeholder concerns or requests and takes necessary actions to resolve them, including timely follow-up.
- Instructs and assists staff with cleaning procedures, techniques, and issues, as well as the use of new methods and products.
- Provides corrective instruction or re-training on properly using cleaning methods, equipment, and safety protocols. Conduct on-the-job training for staff when necessary and appropriate.
- Ensures compliance with supply guidelines and trains staff to use all chemicals. Monitors workplace safety and ensures staff wear appropriate PPE.
- Responsible for completing project work as directed by the supervisor, either individually or as part of a workgroup, in a timely manner.
- Reports supply and maintenance needs and obtains and distributes supplies.
- Performs custodian duties as needed or as directed.
- Effectively performs in a service environment and adheres to all county, state, school, and departmental policies, procedures, and practices.
Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) years minimum of institutional or commercial custodian experience.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Flexibility and ability to change shifts when requested.
- Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to undergo a criminal background check and acquire a Pennsylvania Child Line clearance.
