IFF is looking for a Chemical Engineer to join our Memphis, TN team.

In this role you will demonstrate competency in specific technology areas or applications, using expertise to develop value-creating solutions for project teams and stakeholders.

Manage more than one project assigned by supervision, have the responsibility for the experimental aspects of the project and provide high quality data; recognize and find ways to improve the quality of the experimental/work of the team, delivering quality results and solutions to complex problems; plans, schedules and determines resources to drive results to meet objectives; seeks and implements new ideas to solve problems and make innovative contributions.

Scientific and Engineering Methodologies:

*Proactive application of the scientific method or engineering design process and statistics in chosen discipline. Starts to actively
coaches others in aspects of the methodology.

* Applies and leverages knowledge of innovation materials, substances, process of technical literature. Expanded level of skills in a
wide variety of laboratory techniques, instruments, etc. to solve problems.

*Recognizes and defines boundaries and impact within a technology area and market.

*Proactive application of the scientific method or engineering design process and statistics in chosen discipline. Starts to actively
coaches others in aspects of the methodology.

*Applies and leverages knowledge of innovation materials, substances, process of technical literature. Expanded level of skills in a
wide variety of laboratory techniques, instruments, etc. to solve problems.

*Recognizes and defines boundaries and impact within a technology area and market.

Business, Competitor, Market and Customer Expertise and Impact

*Good understanding of work group and business strategy.

*Proposes MT and Process R&D projects aligned with business goals.

*Creates thorough knowledge and understanding of asset, product and process requirements, competitive environment in context of
related business needs.

*Translates technology benefits into new business opportunities.
Intellectual Property and Documentation:

*Understands that IP is developed and protected through the effective use of confidentiality agreements, patent disclosures, and
proper external communication.

*Participates in the development of intellectual property plans as part of a project.

*Documents results of own experimental work, draws conclusions on the findings and proposes next steps.

*Lead author on Research Reports, Invention Disclosures and/or *Patent applications.

Communication:

*Delivers presentations or reports, communicates appropriately to influence audiences.

*Communicates results and impact of projects with a sense of urgency to influence the decision-making process across
organizations, work teams and stakeholders.

Collaborative Leadership:

*Seeks responsibilities on the team that will influence activities and direction of the team;

*Visibly works to maintain team focus and alignment on achievement of mission and goals.

*Leverages internal network and understanding of technologies or applications to build partnerships for defining and contributing
to business objectives and solving problems.

*Persuades/influences others to build project team consensus on critical decisions and supports to develop path forward.

IFF Culture, Ethics and EH&S:

*Serves as a safety resource to the team in a related technical area.

Expectations:

  • BS/BA in Chemical Engineering or Bio-Chemical Engineering,
  • 3-7 years Industrial Plant Experience
  • This position involves hands-on work in a manufacturing plant rather than a laboratory setting
  • This role may require schedule flexibility, including occasional nights and weekends, depending on project needs.
  • Will have some design and project work
