Logistics Material Handler Lead

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

  • Work closely with other team leads and supervisors on what material is needed for each day.
  • Manage and coach a team of Material Handlers on material handling process.
  • Assist in material handling process with absences of team members.
  • Work with Material Handlers on continuous improvement projects to continuously develop the material handling process.
  • Work with Material Analyst on right-sizing supermarket and stockout items.
  • Work with Shipping team on receiving of raw materials and placing in supermarket.
  • Attend morning stand-up meetings and give updates on materials and process improvement items.
  • Detailed practical knowledge in different systems and processes.
  • No direct reports; may provide technical training.
  • Under general supervision; ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Understands customer needs in making day-to-day decisions and occasionally provides feedback or takes action on changes in customer requirements.
  • Utilize communication skills to exchange complex information within the department.
  • Ensure the team meets production rates while maintaining all quality and safety standards.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement activities as requested.
  • Inventory control responsibilities.

YOU HAVE:

  • Academic background:
    • High School Diploma or material/assembly related experience.
  • Previous experience in or with:
    • 1 year of leadership experience.
    • Certified in motorized equipment or willing to learn.
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures, and ability to promote compliance with them.
    • Must have Forklift Certification OR the ability to obtain one.
    • Skills in analytical thinking and problem solving.
    • Good Safety Management skills.
    • Good Time Management skills.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Actively participates in continuous improvement activities as requested.
    • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office programs).
  • Abilities to meet the physical and environmental demands:
    • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate shipping functions.
    • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business circumstance and have the ability to thrive in a constantly changing business environment.
    • Ability to read and interpret orders.
    • Ability to communicate well with others and delegate tasks.

Bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50lbs. on occasion.
