Position Announcement

The Department of Healthcare Diagnostics & Therapeutics at Utah Tech University (UT) in St. George, Utah, is seeking an energetic and collegial faculty member for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Respiratory Therapy. The Respiratory Therapy program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and provides a comprehensive and integrated educational experience for students completing its Bachelor of Science degree. Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom and lab instruction within the Respiratory Therapy program curriculum.
  • Coordinate, plan, review, and evaluate all facets of clinical learning experiences for students, including identifying clinical sites, securing and maintaining clinical affiliation agreements, and liaising with clinical instructors.
  • Serve on departmental, college, and university committees as assigned and attend departmental, college, and university meetings as required.
  • Work with the program director, department chair, the dean, and other faculty to advance the university's mission, including:
    • Holding office hours.
    • Assist with student recruitment, advisement, placement, and follow-up efforts.
    • Attending program, department, division, and university meetings and events.
    • Serving on department, division, and university committees as assigned.
    • Engaging in community, university, departmental, and discipline service activities.
  • Facilitate and maintain cooperation with community Respiratory Therapy professionals, educational programs, and the program advisory committee.
  • Participate in ensuring continuing CoARC accreditation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Department Chair and/or Dean.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Respiratory Therapist with a minimum of a master's degree from a regional accredited or nationally accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
  • Valid credential as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Four (4) years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years is in clinical respiratory care.
  • Hold current Utah State Respiratory Carer Practitioner License or be eligible for Utah State licensure.
  • Minimum (2) years of experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs.
  • Commitment to academic excellence and collaboration with community health care providers.
  • An eagerness to engage with colleagues, staff, and administrators to develop ways to improve the educational experience of students.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in educational theory and methodology, instructional design and methodology, and student evaluation and outcomes assessment.
  • Use of computer-related technologies to enhance education methodology.
  • Completed the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program.

Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time (10.5-month) tenure-track faculty position. Faculty service begins July 2025 or January 2026. Annual salary of $85,000+ depending on qualifications and experience, with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
