Responsibilities

When your actions lead to success:




  • Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment suitable for the food packaging industry. This includes SQF requirements; train newly hired employees in their responsibilities pertaining to SQF.
  • Complete required documentation for SQF/Product Safety Program.
    Proactively resolve quality process failures.
  • Suggest ideas to support continuous improvement in all areas of the Company.
    Daily communication from shift to shift in the Engineering/Maintenance Department and with Manufacturing.
  • Follow assignments given by Maintenance Manager and assist manufacturing partners with production needs.
  • Perform preventive and maintenance needs for daily operations in the facility and to keep the equipment running as required.
  • Ability to diagnosis, repair/replace electrical control circuits including but not limited to heaters, VFD's, electrical motors, etc.
  • Order parts by recording part numbers with location needed, and then communicating the information to Purchaser.
  • Complete daily reporting sheets and required documentation.
  • Use machine tool operation, i.e., mill, lathe, drill-press, grinder, miscellaneous hand tools to perform responsibilities.
  • Possess knowledge of measuring tools such as micrometers (inside and outside), dial calipers, different types of indicators and measuring devices in both inch and metric.
  • Read blueprints and perform tasks such as PM's, pipefitting, fabricating, all types of welding (mig, tig, wire, stick) and use of oxygen/acetylene torches.
  • Continuously improve the process as an individual and as a team member.
  • Ensure work area is kept clean according to facility and corporate standards.
  • Ensure all environmental standards and requirements are met.
  • Support and maintain all activities related to Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards, such as machine center cleaning schedules, checklists, and audits.
  • Operate a forklift and/or motorized pallet jack to transport material between the warehouse and machines.
  • Adheres to all plant and corporate safety rules and guidelines.
  • Regular predictable, and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Perform all other activities as assigned by Department Manager or Department Production Lead.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or technical certification in technical field such as electrical or mechatronics preferred
  • Machine Repair Journeyman's card or equivalent experience
  • Maintenance experience with machine centers using PLC's, pneumatics, servo motors, electrical and mechanical operation
  • Preferred experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Plastic Extrusion Experience a plus
  • Possess communication skills
  • Demonstrated MS Outlook and Excel skills
