*GIS Technician - Job Description* As a GIS Technician, you will play a key role in *supporting geospatial initiatives by managing, analyzing, and maintaining geographic data*. Your responsibilities will include:
Key Responsibilities * Collect and compile geographic data from diverse sources including maps, field surveys, and satellite imagery. * Digitize and input spatial data into GIS databases with precision and consistency. * Create, update, and maintain GIS maps and data layers using industry-standard GIS software. * Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity. * Analyze spatial data to uncover patterns, trends, and relationships that support decision-making. * Assist in the planning and execution of GIS-related projects and strategic initiatives. * Provide technical support and training to internal GIS users and stakeholders. * Maintain and archive GIS datasets and documentation in accordance with organizational standards. * Stay current with advancements in GIS technologies, tools, and best practices. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate GIS capabilities into broader business processes. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related field. A certificate or associate's degree may be acceptable for some roles. * *Minimum of 5 years of experience in GIS, G/Tech, and CAD, preferably within a utility environment.* * Strong technical proficiency in GIS software and tools, including: * ArcGIS * MicroStation * AutoCAD * G/Tech * ESRI ArcGIS * Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently. * Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Preferred Experience * Hands-on experience with GIS and CAD systems in a utility or infrastructure-focused setting. * Demonstrated ability to manage and analyze complex spatial datasets. *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
