Location:Greater Boston, MA (Hybrid - 4 days onsite, Travel up to 20%)

Length:9 months

Job Description:

Our client is looking for an experienced Commodity Manager to join their team. This role will support New Product Development (NPD) by managing key supply chain and sourcing activities. If you're passionate about supplier management, skilled in strategic procurement, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to innovative product launches.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for assigned commodities that align with new product development timelines and objectives.
  • Own the end-to-end sourcing process-including RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs.
  • Identify and assess suppliers, manage relationships, and ensure performance aligns with quality and delivery expectations.
  • Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers to drive cost savings and secure favorable agreements on pricing, delivery, and service levels.
  • Lead sourcing projects from inception through execution, ensuring milestones are met and risks are proactively managed.
  • Partner closely with internal teams, including engineering, R&D, quality, and operations, to align sourcing strategies with technical requirements and production timelines.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in commodity management, strategic sourcing, or procurement within a complex manufacturing or product development environment.
  • Proven experience managing supplier selection processes and leading RFP/RFI activities.
  • Demonstrated success in supplier negotiations and contract management.
  • Strong project management capabilities with the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration across departments.
  • Experience supporting New Product Development (NPD) is highly preferred.
