HarcoSemco is a Custom Aerospace Components Manufacturer. We have seen great success in innovating advanced manufacturing techniques in the design and fabrication of temperature sensors, thermocouple systems, interconnect cable-harness assemblies, probes, and sensors. For over 65 years, we have successfully supplied these products to the commercial, business, military jet, rotor, and spacecraft markets.

Located in Branford, CT, we have an opportunity for a results-driven and growth-oriented Manufacturing Engineer (ME). The ME
will help to develop and improve manufacturing processes. The position is responsible for the process design and implementation of new products and continuous improvement opportunities, improve industrial processes to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements; therefore, a "US Person" as defined by 22 CFR 120.62, 15 CFR 734.2(b)(2)(ii), 10 CFR 810.3, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) is required. "US Person" includes a US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Responsible for the development of engineering masters/manufacturing instructions using manufacturing engineering practices, specific to HarcoSemco products.
  • Develop, configure and optimize industrial processes from project initiation, working closely with design engineers, to facilitate production operations upon launch.
  • Manage cost and time constraints.
  • Perform risk assessments.
  • Create and update process documentation, to include production floor layouts and operating instructions.
  • Design fixtures and tooling to facilitate pre-production testing and stable production processes.
  • Perform PFMEA reviews for new and existing projects.
  • Assess processes, take measurements and interpret data to facilitate continuous improvement in operations.
  • Assist in the establishment of continuously monitored process metrics for existing processes to assess areas for improvement.
  • Develop and perform simulations for evaluating process alternatives.
  • Design, run, test and upgrade systems and processes.
  • Develop best practices, process standards, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output.
  • Participate in Quality Clinic and MRB.
  • Participate in training as required.
  • Must be able to travel up to 15% domestic and international
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.



Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Self-manage workload: priorities, multiple tasks, and easily adapt to changing situations
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably to include welding and/or brazing
  • Thorough knowledge of process improvement methods and techniques, such as Lean and Six Sigma
  • Familiar with product development and application
  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Highly proficient with the various MS Office programs
  • Working knowledge of process engineering software packages
  • Experience with CAD / AutoCad, SolidWorks, and/or Mastercam a plus



Qualifications & Experience


  • BS degree in Engineering or related field required. Professional-level engineering experience may substitute for the degree as appropriate.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management and/or process improvement methodologies, preferably in the aerospace industry



Physical Demands & Work Environment


  • Manufacturing environment, with controlled temperatures.
  • May be exposed to routine noise from manufacturing plant floor.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift at least 20 lbs., unaided.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, reach, bend, and grasp equipment, tools, or inventory.
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary when working in areas on the manufacturing plant floor



This position requires either a US Person (as defined in applicable export regulations) or a non-US Person who is eligible to obtain the required export authorization.
