The Department of Safety Science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott is seeking a full-time faculty member to fill an Assistant/Associate Professor of Safety Science (non-tenure track) position in the College of Aviation. This position primarily focuses on teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in aviation safety. This position's expected start date is August 11, 2025. This is a teaching-focused position with a general expectation of teaching 4 sections per semester in the fall and spring semesters; additional summer teaching opportunities may be available. This position has minimal research expectations, although opportunities for research may be available. Non-tenure track faculty members at Embry-Riddle are eligible for future promotion based on job performance and length of service. The Safety Science Department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott, serves students at the BS and MS levels and is housed in the College of Aviation. The department features undergraduate and graduate education in aviation and occupational safety, supporting aviation safety minors and an MS in Safety Science. The department facilities include the Robertson Aircraft Accident Investigation Lab, Aviation Safety and Security Archives, Ergonomics Lab, and Industrial Hygiene Lab. QualificationsThe successful candidate will have a strong desire to focus on innovative and high-quality instruction in a collegial and collaborative environment and will hold a PhD in Aviation, Safety, or a closely related field; candidates with an MS in related disciplines with significant industry experience may be considered. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction, demonstrate teaching excellence, and engage in activities to enrich the academic experience and advance the field of aviation safety. Additionally, the position requires active participation in the Safety Science Department and University through service and collaborative initiatives. The successful candidate is expected to be capable of teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in safety sciences. Particular areas of interest include: safety management, safety ethics, accident investigation, and quantitative methods.
