Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $22.11 to $23.87/hr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full hourly range for this position is $23.11 to $26.05/hr.

Brief Summary of Job Duties:
The Lab Assistant for the Jacobs Lab assists with the day-to-day operations of the lab, including ordering supplies, processing reimbursements, organizing the quarterly lab meeting calendar, arranging travel for visiting faculty and trainees, managing the lab's website and social media channels as well as providing basic support for wet lab procedures and storage of samples from the lab.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma.
- 1-3 years of general experience with lab organizational management.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work and multi-task.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education/experience.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:
- 50% Lab Management - - Oversee daily operations of the laboratory, maintaining lab and office equipment, and ensuring cleanliness and organization of the workspace. - Ensure cleanliness, safety, and organization of shared lab spaces. - Implement lab safety protocols and compliance standards. - Assist with data entry, storage, and retrieval of samples. -Maintain lab digital logs in compliance with research standards. -Assist graduate students and trainees with basic wet lab procedures, including centrifuging and aliquoting biofluid samples, developing and maintaining categorization system for archival biofluid samples and freezer storage.
- 10% Scheduling - -Create and manage the lab's quarterly meeting schedule in collaboration with lab members. -Distribute meeting dates, times, and reading materials to core lab personnel (PI, postdocs, graduate students, undergraduates) in a timely manner.
- 10% Social Media - -Maintain and regularly update the lab's website and social media platforms, including Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), Bluesky, and YouTube. -Aim to post relevant updates, research highlights, and outreach content approximately twice per week.
- 15% Training - -Provide assistance to graduate students with research protocols and experimental setup. -Support onboarding of new lab members by familiarizing them with lab practices and safety procedures. -Assist with placing lunch orders for participants or retrieving lunch.
- 5% Purchasing - -Process supply purchases through the university's Gateway system and handle reimbursements via Concur.
- 5% Inventory - -Maintain inventory of lab and office supplies; track usage and reorder as needed.
- 5% Travel - -Coordinate and arrange travel for visiting faculty and trainees -Coordinate with department administrative staff to ensure compliance with university policies and procedures related to travel reimbursement.
