This position is subject to the successful completion of an employment background check. Primary Purpose of Organization Unit
Primary Purpose of the Organization Unit:
The primary purpose of UNC Pembroke Athletics is to develop successful individuals through athletic competition, academic achievement, and social development. The department aims to provide a championship experience for its nearly 500 student-athletes while incorporating its core values of integrity, excellence, loyalty, sportsmanship, and accountability.

Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Director for Compliance, Academics and Student Success will support the mission, goals and objectives of UNC Pembroke and its athletics department. The Director for Compliance, Academics & Student Services will assist the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance & Student Services, who reports to the General Counsel, on maintaining compliance with all NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations. This position will also provide academic support, guidance, and leadership to UNC Pembroke student-athletes.
Maintain Compliance with all NCAA, Conference, and Institutional Regulations

  • Assist with all NCAA Compliance responsibilities including filing NCAA Waivers and Violations


* Help with NCAA and UNC System Reports

  • Update UNC Pembroke Compliance Manual
  • Follow ethical conduct procedures relative to NCAA Drug Testing, Title IX requirements and conduct issues
  • Ensure NCAA and institutional requirements for Athletics Personnel are followed
  • Support recruiting efforts by filing official/unofficial paperwork, approving tryout paperwork, tracking prospective student-athletes in the NCAA Eligibility Center and Transfer Portal, creating aid agreements and letter of commitment documents, and assisting in the admissions and financial aid process
  • Award financial aid and determine equivalencies
  • Work with coaches on their Declaration of Playing and Practice and monitoring Countable Athletically Related Activities (CARA) in Teamworks
    • Assign NCAA forms to student-athletes in Teamworks and running the completion reports

  • Will be a key liaison for Teamworks software including Compliance and Recruiting, Influencer (Name, Image, and Likeness), Hub, Athlete Management System (AMS), Camps, and Nutrition

Provide Academic Support and Guidance to Student-Athletes

  • Coordinate UNC Pembroke evening study hall each semester and assist with tutor access for student-athletes
  • Help organize and monitor student-athlete information and academic eligibility in NCAA Compliance Assistant software

* Check through grades at midterms and the end of each semester and make sure SAs are meeting Progress Towards Degree ( PTD)
* Work with coaches on utilizing EAB Navigate and send progress reports
* Distribute and complete transfer tracers
* Meet with at-risk students each semester and help connect them to academic resources
* Collect academic information for athletic award nomination submissions
* Assign Varsity Athlete Credits
Provide Support at Athletics Events

  • Help plan and prepare for the Athletics Welcome Back and Golden Braves
  • Assist at Cash Bash
  • Handle complimentary admissions and ticketing at athletics events
  • Represent athletics at university sponsored events
  • Provide gameday support where needed

1. Oversee all compliance related functions for NCAA, UNC, and Conference Carolinas compliance activities.

2. Assist with management of NIL oversight.

3. Academic Support Services to include:

a.coordination of missed class forms each semester

b.unifying the grade report process

c. at-risk student-athlete procedures

d. Study Hall coordination

4.Develop Exit interview process and gender equity surveying

5.Career preparation & internship assistance for upperclassmen student-athletes; liaison with career counseling center

6.Lead Athletics work with registration for Freshman advisement during orientation process

7.Other Senior administrator duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
Management Preference
