Job Description

KBIA-FM at the Missouri School of Journalism has an immediate opening for a Health Reporter to plan, develop, write and produce stories and digital media content for radio broadcast and online distribution. This position will focus on health issues and their impact on society.
Responsibilities include:
* Reporting, writing and producing radio spots, features and online content. The successful candidate will also liaise with partners on program ideas and content.
* Conducting community outreach through new media, social media and community events.
* Occasional supervision of the work of student reporters and producers.
* Working on and with the KBIA News team on daily and breaking news coverage as needed.
* Participating in KBIA pledge drives.
* Occasional newscast anchoring.
* Teaching an introductory journalism course in a classroom setting 1-2 semesters per year.

Note: This position is grant-funded, with funding currently secured through August 31, 2027. Our organization has a strong history of successful grant renewals, and this role is expected to continue beyond the current funding cycle, contingent on continued funding.

Shift

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Occasional nights and weekends as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Previous health reporting a plus.
A Bachelor's degree in journalism or communications.
Public radio broadcasting/production experience.
Fluency in digital media production.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $52,915.20 - $55,120/annual

Grade: GGS 9E
