Work hours are typically standard Monday - Thursday, 8am-5pm Fridays 8am-5pm, however, there are weekends and evenings that may be required.

Schedule is based on the operational needs of the department and EMCC.

To best serve the students, department, and college, this position is fully in-person.

Job Summary

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a Student Services Specialist Senior (Short-Term). This position provides student service program support, advisement, processing, and information resource referrals within the Career and Transfer Center. This position is responsible for performing the more technically demanding program support tasks, including extensive student advising and cohort case management, guidance, and processing related to CARE/Early Alert/Basic Needs, career and transfer planning, and retention initiatives.

This position has an expected job end date of 06/30/2026.

Essential Functions

30% - Provides timely response and support to student early alert and care reporting system inquiries and submissions. Provides support and follow-up, tracking, referral, and documentation of supports and services provided. Reports on early alert and care reporting services and follow-ups and provides student enrollment and progress data tracking. Work with stakeholders on campus to promote a positive and supportive learning environment to maximize student success. Serves as a point of contact for students, faculty, and staff regarding early alert and care reports.

30% - Provides career services, including resume development, interview preparation, and career exploration. Provides intentional workshops and classroom visits simultaneously to maximize student access to career and transfer resources. Coordinates career readiness workshops, classroom visits, transfer representative events, and career services. Oversees and maintains relationships with university transfer representatives, ensuring consistent communication and coordination of visits, presentations, and student visits. Coordinates office workflow and collects data on department services, activity/event engagement, and retention initiatives.

30% - Provides support for additional department retention-based initiatives that promote student persistence, retention, and completion, including but not limited to: registration room, new student orientation, cohort outreach, and additional approved department programming.

10% - Trains student workers and staff on career and transfer center procedures and student support best practices. Develops marketing materials, presentations, and informational resources for students and stakeholders. Other duties as assigned commensurate to the grade level of the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years of full-time equivalent student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

OR

High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of full-time equivalent of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Bachelor's degree in behavioral health, counseling, education or related area

B. Three (3) years or more experience providing customer service in multiple modalities within a higher education setting

C. Two (2) or more years' experience supporting student development initiatives and/or programming in a higher education setting

D. Two (2) or more years' experience providing Career Services and facilitating student workshops in higher education setting

E. Two (2) or more years' experience providing office coordination and/or managing office workflow

F. One (1) or more years' experience providing early alert and/or basic needs support in a higher education setting

G. One (1) or more years' experience using a case management approach to support at-risk student populations

Special Working Conditions

1. This is a short-term position with an expected job end date of 06/30/2026.

2. May be required to view a computer monitor for a prolonged period of time.
