Job Description

Provides individual and group therapy treatments for patients with problems associated with hearing, speech, and language disorders. Keeps records, monitors progress and counsels patients and their family members. May provide supervision to Interns, and lead/guide speech pathologists.

Job Responsibility




  • Treats patients with complex problems and a wide variety of diagnoses across services; performs advanced, specialized evaluations and interventions.
  • Screens and assesses patients based on diagnosis and age to develop an individualized plan of care.
  • Monitors patient response to treatment and changes plan, as needed; interprets and executes physician orders.
  • Terminates services when maximum benefit is received and formulates follow up plan when indicated.
  • Considers psychosocial aspects of care; monitors treatment environment for safety.
  • Schedules and prioritizes workload to meet productivity standards and deadlines.
  • Implements creative treatment activities based upon patient age, interest, education level, social history and cultural and spiritual considerations.
  • Provides in-service education to staff and other healthcare personnel; clinical education to students.
  • Documents care and maintain records as required.

Job Qualification




  • Master's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Current License to practice as a Speech Pathologist in New York State, and Current Clinical Competence - SPL (ASHA) Certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, required.
