Technical Writer POSITION SUMMARY: The construction technical writer role supports our project teams in developing compelling and persuasive proposal content, including technical writing such as project approaches and logistics plans to support strategic pursuit strategies and messaging. The ideal technical writer has a natural curiosity and skillset to interview project teams, probe with relevant questions to identify and communicate project challenges and solutions. This role requires exceptional writing and communication skills to translate complex construction technical language into clear, understandable content for a non-technical audience. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate
closely with the Marketing Team to incorporate written content into RFQ, RFP, and award submission deliverables. - Conduct interviews
with project team members to identify project challenges and solutions and develop written content to communicate the project story for use in marketing materials. - Write and edit
project approaches and logistics plans, incorporating winning strategies, and demonstrate how these approaches help clients achieve their project goals. - Translate
technical construction language into clear, concise, and engaging content that is accessible to non-technical stakeholders. - Ensure all written
content aligns with the company's brand voice and proposal guidelines. - Work closely with
leadership, marketing, and pursuit teams to ensure the accuracy and relevance of proposal content. - Edit and format
content written by others, ensuring consistency in writing style and approach throughout various documents. - Maintain
boilerplate documents used for marketing, business development, and recruiting efforts. - Conduct themselves
in accordance with our Guiding Principles and exhibiting attributes matching the Way We Work. - Other duties as
assigned.
JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES GUIDELINES:
- Understanding of basic business development principles.
- Basic
understanding of the go/no-go process. - Knowledge of architecture, engineering, or construction
industry terminology. - Strong interviewing and research skills to gather
detailed project information. - Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
with a keen eye for detail. - Ability to translate complex technical information into
clear, layman-friendly language. - Experience incorporating winning strategies into
proposal narratives. - Strong organizational and time management skills to
handle multiple projects and deadlines. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other
relevant software. - Familiarity with AP and in-house style guides and
ability to enforce style consistency. - Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, and clarity
in editing technical and marketing content. - Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven
environment with multiple concurrent projects. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the
ability to diplomatically provide editorial feedback to subject matter experts. - Excellent time management skills; a sense of
urgency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of writing experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction industry.
LOCATION:
- This position can be officed in any of our 8 regional offices.

- Ability to physically stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day.
- Ability to repeat the same movements.
- Ability to communicate effectively to participate fully in meetings, video conferences, and phone calls.
- Use hands to type, handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or control.
- Occasionally lift, pull, or move up to 25 lbs.
- Occasional travel will be required, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (must have a valid Driver's License)
